Kevin McHale To Coach Houston Rockets

Congratulations to Kevin McHale who has just been hired as the new head coach of the Houston Rockets.   And congrats to the Rockets for getting another quality coach.

The Rockets have a mix of young talent and aging stars.  Yao Ming is a constant question mark and may never regain dominant form.  Kevin Martin is beginning to slow and is on the downside of his career, although he is still a very effective offensive player.  Youngsters Patrick Patterson, Chase Budinger, Terrence Williams, Jordan Hill, Courtney Lee and Hasheem Thabeet make up a promising group, brimming with potential but lacking experienced.

It will be interesting to see how the Rockets reshape their roster this off season and what starting lineup McHale puts on the floor to begin the 2011/12 season. They could be in the market for a young point guard in this years draft.  With the 23rd pick they could be looking at Darrius Morris, Josh Selby or Cory Joseph.  All three players are likely to be available at #23.
