Wendell Carter Jr. NBA Draft Scouting Report

6-9 - 255 - PF - Duke

A powerful post player with a quick first step and great touch around the rim. A bit undersized but highly skilled, with nice scoring ability.

Carter Jr. is a force on the low block who knows how to score around the basket and shows a nice soft touch. He's very powerful for a young player and does a nice job of carving out position in the lane and imposing his will the defender.

He has advanced back to the basket post moves and can also face up and, either hit the jumper or take his man off the bounce, showing good suddenness and burst. His outside shot is a work in progress but shows promise.

He's a big who knows his role and doesn't try to do too much with the ball. He scores in the lane, defends the paint and is a solid rebounder.

He has a good feel for the game, is a willing passer and moves the ball well to avoid the double team.

Needs to get into top shape and improve his agility and foot speed.

Is still improving as a shooter and needs to gain consistency, both from the floor and from the foul line.

Doesn't project as a great rim protector at the NBA level and has good but not great length. He's not a big time above the rim player and might struggle to score against NBA size.

Reminds of Mo Speights with his post skills and face up game. Jordan Hill.

Projection: mid to late first round pick in the 2018 or 2019 NBA Draft
