Jawun Evans NBA Draft Scouting Report

6-1 - PG - Oklahoma State

A compact, quick and powerful point guard who can score in bunches. Moving up draft boards as he continues his stellar play.

Pros
Evans is a strong and quick lead guard who really excels at scoring the ball. He scores efficiently from all three levels and is tough to keep out of the lane. His quickness, strength and ball-handling skills allow him to get to his spots and control the flow of the offense.

He collapses the defense with the dribble-drive and can score amongst the trees or kick it out for an open shot.

Hits the three point shot at a high percentage and shows good shot selection. Loves to have the ball in his hands in crutch time.

Lightening quick in the open court and does a nice job of pushing the ball in transition.

Evans is a menace on the defensive end. A pesky ball hawk, he gets lots of steals and puts a ton of pressure on opposing point guards. He plays with a low center of gravity and has really quick feet, allowing him to keep his man from driving. Plays the passing lanes well and has good defensive awareness.

Cons
Doesn't have great size (although has good strength) and will have a lot of tough match ups at the next level vs bigger point guards.

Can over-drive the ball and get caught in no-man's land. Is not much of an above the rim player and could struggle to score in the lane against NBA size/length.

Comparisons
Reminds of Kyle Lowry with his compact build and scoring ability. Looks a little bit like Chris Paul and has a similar style of play. Small and quick like Speedy Claxton.

Projection: late first to early second round pick in the 2017 or 2018 NBA Draft
