Zion Williamson NBA Draft Scouting Report

6-7 - Combo Forward - SC

A powerful and explosive athlete who dominates the game with his physical presence, aggressive play and advanced skill set.

Pros
Built like a bull on steroids, Williamson has great strength and power to go along with guard-like agility.

He shows great body control on his drives into the lane and despite being such an aggressive driver he knows how to avoid offensive fouls. He can overpower defenders using his wide base and has the quickness and agility to cut through the defense and get to the rim. Is always in attack mode and is a natural born scorer.

He can play multiple positions and loves to bring the ball up the court and make plays for teammates. Although he can be a bit wild with his passes, he shows flashes of high level passing ability and a nice feel for passing teammates open. Has impressive handles for a young player his size and has developed his right hand dribble (he's a lefty) to become dangerous driving both directions.

Williamson is aggressive on the offensive glass and can simply overpower many opponents to control rebounds and finish in the lane. A great dunker who can fly above the rim for impressive throw-downs.

Shows some nice back to the basket moves and makes his moves quickly to avoid the double team. Has good touch on a baby left hook and shows a good feel for creating space for his shot.

Cons
His outside shot is developing and has a ways to go before it's a reliable part of his game. Doesn't have the smoothest release and is inconsistent from outside.

Much of his game is predicated on overpowering opponents and being the best athlete on the court. How will he adjust/develop his game to compete against NBA size and athleticism?

Comparisons
A super-charged version of Anthony Bennett mixed with LeBron. Would that be Julius Randle?

A modern version of Larry Johnson.

Projection: lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft
