Adrian Griffin Jr. NBA Draft Scouting Report

SG SF  6-6  200 Duke
(White Plains, NY)

  Standing Reach

 8/23/03 7-0 NA  NA

Son of the former NBA player by the same name, Jr. is a powerful wing/big guard who plays with intensity and brings it on both ends of the floor.

He has nice athleticism, a very solid frame and a ton of natural talent. Griffin is built like a linebacker with thick shoulders and sort of a low center of gravity but that doesn't keep him from making plays above the rim. He gets off his feet well, can defend at the rim and has impressive vertical explosion.

One thing that stands out with Griffin is his high level understanding of the game (thanks NBA dad). His awareness on the defensive end is impressive and he can defend just about any position on the floor. He's a pesky on the ball defender who seems to take a lot of pride in taking the ball off the ball-handler.

On offense he's able to use his strong body to carve out space in the lane and does a good job of initiating contact and scoring against length. He's got a quick first step, solid handles and good finishing ability.

Griffin can also score from the perimeter and is especially hard to guard given his size and how he keeps the defense on it's heels with his dribble-drive ability. He's got a compact and solid shooting form and is developing into a lethal 3pt marksman.

Griffin is one of the younger members of his recruiting class and could still be growing.
