Melvin Frazier NBA Draft Scouting Report

SF  6-6  200  Tulane

  Standing Reach

 8/30/96 7-2 NA  43

Frazier is a prototypical 3&D prospect who has elite length and is a great defender. He can guard multiple positions and is especially effective using his length on the perimeter to harass the ball-handler. He has an improved 3 point shot but still has work to do to become a consistent offensive threat. Looking to become the first player in Tulane history to be drafted in the first round.

  • His 7-2 wingspan and overall athleticism make him an absolute menace as a defender
  • Has versatility and can guard 1-3
  • Has very active hands and gets a lot of steals
  • A very aware defender who reads the play well and understands how to play with proper position
  • Can shut down his man 1 on 1 and is also a good help defender who understands team concepts
  • Shows some promise with his ability to hit the corner 3
  • An impressive dunker who plays way above the rim
  • Has improved his passing, becoming more a facilitator
  • Although he's improved his 3 point shot he's still not a consistent enough shooter
  • His FT shooting is just over 70%
  • Isn't the most creative ball-handler and is mostly a straight line player
  • Can be careless with the ball. Has about a 1 to 1 assist to turnover rate
  • Has length and leaping ability like Derrick Jones Jr. (but is a better overall player)
  • Patrick McCaw with more length
Projection: mid first to early second round pick in the 2018 or 2019 NBA Draft
